ICD-10 Implementation Deadline Extended to October 1, 2015

The U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a final rule on July 31, which extended the deadline for the implementation of the tenth revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), from October 1, 2014 to October 1, 2015. The final rule requires the continued use of ICD-9 through September 30, 2015.

HHS Seeks To Delay ICD-10 Implementation Date

Yesterday the Department of Health and Human Services announced a proposed rule that would delay the implementation of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition, diagnosis and procedure code (ICD-10) from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014. The proposed rule is in response to providers’ concerns about meeting HHS’ compliance deadline for Version 5010
